How Menopause Affects Skin

How Menopause Affects Skin

Every woman will go through menopause, usually in her early to mid-50s.

It causes symptoms such as hot flashes and mood swings.

Menopause can affect your skin more.

How hormones affect your skin: When menopause occurs,

the body experiences a drop in production of the female hormone estrogen.

Estrogen and Aging: Since the face contains estrogen receptors, the skin

on the face is particularly vulnerable to the effects of estrogen reduction.

The benefit of estrogen to a woman outweighs the risk in a healthy person

without a known link to breast cancer.

Tips to keep your skin healthy during menopause:

* Wear sunscreen daily.

* Keep your body and skin hydrated.

* Wash your face with cold water.

* Drink lot of water.
